Apr. 06, 2018

The Saskatchewan Midget AAA Hockey League champions wasted no time making a statement at the 2018 Telus Cup Western Regional Championship in Thunder Bay, Ont.

The Notre Dame Hounds put together a dominating 11-0 win over the Kenora Thistles on Thursday afternoon in the opening game of the round robin.

Cordel Larson had a hat trick and five points to lead the way for the Hounds, while Luke Mylymok picked up a hat trick as well and Cole Stevenson found the back of the net twice.

Coalson Wolford and Stanley Cooley had three assists each.

Goalie Aaron Randazzo stopped all 11 shots that he faced on his way to the shutout in the lopsided win.

The Hounds will now face the Winnipeg Wild in their second round robin game. The Wild knocked off the host Thunder Bay Kings, 4-1, in their opener on Thursday.

The round robin wraps up on Saturday with Notre Dame facing the Kings. The final goes on Sunday.
